Agatha Caraballo
Director
Agatha Caraballo is a PhD candidate and research fellow in the Department of Public Administration at Florida International University (FIU). Her dissertation focuses on the “Impact of the Round II Urban Empowerment Zones on Local Communities” and explores the effect of the federal economic development program on regional business growth and local hiring.
Prior to receiving the 2012 Doctoral Evidence Acquisition Fellowship from FIU’s Graduate School, Agatha taught undergraduate statistics and worked as a research assistant at the university. She was the President of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society at FIU, an initiative of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, from 2009 to 2011. Agatha was first elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) – South Florida Chapter in 2010, and presently serves as the Recording Secretary and Scholarship Committee Co-Chair.
In addition, to serving on the Board of Directors for the national Council for Corporate Responsibility, she is also a Member of the South Florida chapter of the Florida Diversity Council and Chair of the Diversity Best Practices Meeting.
